On days when I have landscaping work, I spend about 45 minutes on the train. I usually use that time to watch YouTube videos about whatever topic I’m interested in at the moment, but today I decided to ask ChatGPT some questions about the universe.
I asked things like, ‘If you could build a long train that loops around the Earth, and then place a slightly smaller train inside that, and repeat the process, would you end up with a time machine?’ and ‘Does light exceed the speed of light inside a black hole?’ or ‘If the universe is infinitely large, why aren’t there constant massive explosions engulfing the Earth?’ ChatGPT answered all of them.
One thing that particularly fascinated me was the law of conservation of mass. It made me think I might understand a little better why nations, especially powerful ones, tend to develop aggressive tendencies.

植木屋の仕事がある日は45分ほど電車に乗る。大体YouTubeで、その時に興味があることについて調べているが、今日はChatGPTに宇宙の疑問について質問していた。
地球を真っ直ぐ一周する前後を繋げた長い電車の中に一回り小さい電車を走らせ、その中に一回り小さい電車を走らせることを繰り返すと、タイムマシンができるのか？とか、ブラックホールの中で光は光速を超えるのか？とか、もし宇宙が無限に大きいなら、なぜ地球を巻き込むような巨大な爆発が常に起きていないか？など、全ての疑問に答えてくれた。
質量保存の法則が面白い。強国と呼ばれる国々がなぜ侵略的な性格を持ってしまうのかという謎が少し解けた気がする。
